The automotive world has lost a champion. You won’t find him in a record book or etched upon the marble walls of the hall of fame, but make no mistake, John Kraman was the best of the best.

His knowledge was profound yet humble, his expertise elite but never elitist. John stood as a pillar in our community, not by demanding attention, but by giving it freely. His kindness knew no bounds; from the biggest names in the industry to the new faces at the latest event, he treated everyone with the same respect and warmth.

For gearheads, collectors, hobbyists and even the occasional passerby, John embodied everything that is right and good with our automotive community.  He believed in inclusivity, ensuring that everyone had a place at the table of our shared passion.

He didn't just leave a seat open; he often reserved one right beside his own, symbolizing his welcoming spirit. There was no differentiation with John. Chevy, Ford, Mopar, Pontiac, Cadillac or whatever was your interest, John appreciated them all because he understood that it takes every taste and brand to make our community what it is today.

His attention to detail was legendary, matched only by a commitment to excellence in every aspect of his work. Millions would welcome him into their homes, through TV screens or met him in person at Mecum auctions, where he was not just a figure of authority but a friend, even to those who never shook his hand.

John, you were the epitome of authenticity in a world often filled with pretenses. You lived your passion, shared your knowledge, and did it all with a grace that inspired us all to strive for the same.

As we say goodbye, we remember you not just for the cars you celebrated, but for the man you were. You've left us too soon, but your spirit will continue to drive us and our community forward.

Rest in peace Professor and thank you for leaving us your legacy and a road map to kindness, inclusivity, and passion that we will follow forever.

Godspeed friend.
